Each week, TSN.ca takes a look at the top available players in fantasy football ahead of the weekly waiver deadline. Quarterback Austin Davis, St Louis Rams (vs. 49ers) Last Week: 29/49, 375 yards, 3 TDs Davis is barely owned in fantasy leagues, the few leagues where he is picked up likely two quarterback leagues. Davis is certainly a solid QB2 and worthy of spot starts in bye weeks, but after his big Week 5 performance there may be hope hes worth even more than that. Davis was outscored by only Peyton Manning this past weekend and while finishing second is unlikely to happen again, it was his second straight game with three touchdown passes and more than 300 yards passing. Another QB worth looking at could be the Browns Brian Hoyer. Hoyers barely owned as well and while he doesnt have that one big week to boost his season averages, he could be a more consistent option than Davis. Running Back Branden Oliver, San Diego Chargers (at Raiders) Last Week: 19 carries, 114 yards, 1 TD; 4 receptions, 68 yards, 1 TD Oliver should be the top pick on the wire this week for a couple reasons. One, hell more than likely take on a full workload (Ryan Mathews is still injured and Donald Brown was ineffective before getting hurt as well) and two, hes facing the Oakland Raiders. The Chargers can score and the Raiders like giving up rushing yards and points. The job in San Diegos will likely revert back to Mathews once hes healthy, but Oliver could be a strong fill-in. Andre Williams, New York Giants (at Eagles) Last Week: 20 carries, 65 yards, 1 TD; 2 receptions, 18 yards Williams is another enticing injury fill-in. While he wasnt as impressive as Oliver once starter Rashad Jennings went down, Williams proved capable against the Falcons on Sunday. As long as Jennings is out, Williams should get the workload to warrant a start in your flex spot. Ronnie Hillman, Denver Broncos (at Jets) Last Week: 15 carries, 64 yards This should be a coveted spot - starting running back for the Broncos - after what we saw Knowshon Moreno do in Peyton Mannings offence last year, but it has lost a lot of its lustre through five weeks this year. Ball has simply not performed as well as we thought he would, hes performing like an RB3 at best when healthy, so theres no reason to think Hillman will start racking up the points in his absence. Especially when we figure in Hillman should have more competition for touches while Ball heals up the next couple weeks. Wide Receiver Justin Hunter, Tennessee Titans (vs Jaguars) Last Week: 3 receptions (5 targets), 99 yards, 1 TD This isnt a great week to need a receiver on the wire. Hunter leads the list partly because his big Week 5 line, but mostly because it appears Hunter will get the opportunity to put up big lines moving forward. Hunter played more than any other Titans receiver and should at the least be a starter the rest of the way. Tennessees quarterback situation is a mess but the team should be trailing in a lot of games the rest of the year. Garbage points can be a fantasy players best friend. Kenny Britt, St. Louis Rams (vs 49ers) Last Week: 3 receptions (6 targets), 68 yards, 1 TD Just when youve sworn this guy off for the millionth time, Britt may be deserving of yet another chance. Britt isnt yet the (suddenly potent) Rams second WR behind Brian Quick, but hes in the running and should get more opportunity after a solid Week 5. Its crazy to think the Rams offence warrants two receivers being owned, but its close and Britt is close to being that second receiver. Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants (at Eagles) Last Week: 4 receptions (5 targets), 44 yards. 1 TD Beckhams debut after a hamstring injury wasnt spectacular, aided by a touchdown catch, but showed some promise for the rest of the year. Beckham has a ways to go to catch Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle in the starting lineup, but the first-rounder is a talented pass catcher and will start with enough targets to at least be intriguing, before garnering more as the season goes on. The rookie may not make an instant impact but could be an interesting bench stash. Tight End Owen Daniels, Baltimore Ravens (at Buccaneers) Last Week: 5 receptions (7 targets), 70 yards Just about every tight end worth owning is in most leagues, so if youre looking for one on the wire youre hopefully doing so only as an injury or bye week replacement. Thats what Daniels represents. With Dennis Pitta and Phillip Supernaw hurt, Daniels managed a decent game against the Colts in Week 5. Daniels has had some success in the eight years he spent with Houston before this season, and he presents a solid in unspectacular fill-in for desperate owners should Pitta and Supernaw remain out. He certainly wont win you a game, but you also dont have to worry about a 0.0 point line from the 32-year-old. Fantasy Football powered by Coors Light. Balenciaga Shoes Sale .
